Abstract

As urbanization accelerates globally and cities expand vertically, the construction of earthquake-resistant skyscrapers has become paramount for ensuring public safety and economic stability. This article examines the revolutionary seismic isolation technology that is transforming modern high-rise construction, focusing on base isolation systems, damping mechanisms, and advanced structural engineering solutions. Through analysis of contemporary implementations and case studies from seismically active regions, we explore how these technologies protect both human lives and critical infrastructure investments. The research reveals that modern seismic isolation systems can reduce earthquake forces on buildings by up to 80%, significantly improving structural performance during seismic events. As we advance into an era of mega-tall structures exceeding 800 meters in height, these protective technologies represent the cornerstone of sustainable urban development in earthquake-prone regions.
